GENUINE FISH MATE UV-C LAMPS

A UV lamp can still glow after its useful output has fallen.

Visible light does not prove that the lamp is still producing enough effective UV-C to reduce free-floating algae. Replace by wattage and exact filter compatibility—not appearance alone.

OUR PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATION

Change the UV-C lamp twice a year during continuous use.

Fit a fresh genuine Fish Mate lamp at the start of the main pond season and replace it again after roughly six months of continuous running. Do not wait for it to stop glowing: algae-control effectiveness drops as UV-C output ages.

Always isolate the electrical supply before opening a UV unit. Inspect the quartz sleeve, O-rings and seals, and follow the instructions for the exact filter model.

GENUINE MATTERS

Very cheap copy lamps can be a false economy.

Some copies may glow yet produce substantially poorer useful UV-C output. In the worst case, a lamp can appear to work from the day it is fitted while providing little or no effective algae control.

Use a genuine Fish Mate lamp of the correct wattage and voltage. Never substitute a lamp only because its tube length or connector looks similar.
